the traditional tepee is a cone-shaped tent arranged on a multiple-poles structure and made of animal skins. inspired by the shape of the nomadic dwelling, nordisk uses cotton as the basic material for their replica, and the modern tent is much easier to build: the structure is fixed on only one pole which serves as a bearing core for the rest of the props.

the nordisk series of tepees is alled ‘alfheim’, which is one of the nine worlds and home of the light elves in north mythology. the series offers two sizes of the tepee. depending on its size, the tent can fit from 8 to 19 people simultaneously. the bigger nordisk tepee — alfheim 19.6 sqm — can be also produced from organic cotton — a mix of natural cotton and polyester yarn. this textile solution provides a great indoor climate, while the natural cotton features add light and natural ventilation as well as protection against wind and rain.

all the nordisk tents were tested in a professional wind tunnel — a tool used in aerodynamic studies to define an object’s resistance level to the wind.  some of the tents have even withstood almost irresistible force — after the wind speed exceed 32,7 m/s to be categorized as hurricane, they passed the limit and survived.
