InterContinental Hotels Group has announced the debut of the InterContinental Los Angeles Downtown, which is part of the billion-dollar Wilshire Grand Center. Locally based architecture practice AC Martin led the design for the hotel, which occupies floors 31 through 70 of the 73-story building, the tallest building west of Chicago.

Featured among the hotel’s 889 rooms are 109 suites, appointed with cozy living areas and floor-to-ceiling windows overlooking the city. The 2,500-square-foot presidential suite boasts a laidback lounge space, dining room, kitchenette, walk-in closets, soaking tubs, and a piano. The five onsite F&B outposts include the Lobby Vodka Bar & Lounge; Japanese concept Sora; all-day eatery Dekkadance; opulent steakhouse La Boucherie on the 71st floor, which exudes French and classic California flair with private dining booths and the tallest open-air bar in the Western Hemisphere; and rooftop venue Spire 73, complete with a three-story light sculpture inspired by LA’s freeways.

As the first LEED Gold-certified project in the city’s downtown, the property is also home to nearly 95,000 square feet of multifunctional space, including a 21,000-square-foot ballroom and 33 meeting rooms.
