Kimpton Hotels & Restaurants is growing its footprint in the Lone Star State with the addition of the Pittman Hotel. Located in Dallas’ storied Deep Ellum neighborhood, the new hotel occupies the historic Knights of Pythias Temple, which was first constructed in 1916 by architect William Sidney Pittman. Following a sensitive restoration by Perkins and Will, the property romantically evokes nostalgia as it juxtaposes old and new.
The lobby and other common areas are conceived as industrial-style loft spaces that feature exposed steel, raw concrete, and natural leather against a backdrop of white walls. The lobby is also home to the American tavern Elm & Good, while a poolside bar rounds out onsite F&B options. The highlight of the hotel’s more than 8,000 square feet of indoor-outdoor meeting space is the 4,200-square-foot grand ballroom, which boasts restored 28-foot-high ceilings and three walls containing 20-foot windows.
Each of the Pittman hotel’s 165 contemporary guestrooms evoke residential-style layouts, as well as soft white walls punctuated by locally sourced artwork. Notes of dark green, orange, and gray also animate each chamber, while leather-stitched headboards serve as a key focal point.
