Peak is located on the 101st floor of 30 Hudson Yards in Manhattan

In early March 2020, Edge debuted at 30 Hudson Yards as the tallest observation deck in the Western Hemisphere. Crafted by Kohn Pedersen Fox (KPF) and Rockwell Group, the sleek attraction is elevated even further by Peak, a luxe new dining concept located just above the 1,149-foot-tall deck. Perched atop the tower’s 101st floor, the restaurant by Rockwell Group welcomes visitors through a double-height lobby that frames sprawling westward views.

“The key brief consideration was to create a restaurant that first and foremost celebrated the view,” says Richard Chandler, associate principal and studio leader for Rockwell Group. “From there, we explored designing a space that was transformative from day to night, felt congruent with being atop of a modern 21st-century skyscraper, and was future-forward in its thinking yet still expressed a sense of elegance, warmth, and sophistication.”

The opulent design boasts metallic accents throughout

To complement the breathtaking vistas, Peak “is filled with details to be discovered,” says Chandler, including reflective acoustic ceilings, bronze inlays that span the floor, and metallic accents that adorn barstools and upholstery. The sunken dining room and bar and lounge area continue the opulent design theme, boasting metal-wrapped seating and a bronze ceiling.“This singular landscape keeps an outward focus on the unparalleled views,” Chandler explains.

Further, chandeliers made from triangular glass rods form glimmering cloud motifs that juxtapose the twinkling skyline after sunset. “To stand out was never the intention,” Chandler says. “The overarching idea was more about how the space becomes an elegant frame for guests to rest while enjoying the magnificent sweeping views of the city from this unique vantage point.”
