Rosewood Le Guanahani St. Barth has reopened following a comprehensive redesign and rebranding. The historic Caribbean getaway, acquired by Rosewood Hotels & Resorts in 2017, was refreshed by David M Schwarz Architects and Luis Pons Design Lab. The revamped property draws upon French colonial styles as well as the tropical splendor and festive spirit of its setting.
“The Caribbean style and its Creole influences have been the core of the entire renovation,” Luis Pons says. “It was important to retain the character and history of Rosewood Le Guanahani, to embrace the traditional language of the place and its context, and to restore the integrity of the existing structures. In the native Taino language of the Caribbean, ‘guanahani’ means ‘welcome,’ and we wanted to incorporate that sentiment throughout the design.”
The renovated property is distinguished by a palette anchored in turquoise, yellow, and lavender tones, and interiors layered with history and a range of wood varieties, French textiles, and leather. Colonial-style furniture composed of rattan and powdercoated aluminum details also populate the resort and instill a sense of place.
Newly built, the open-air Beach House accommodates a range of F&B experiences—from an oceanfront restaurant to an upscale cocktail lounge. Haindpainted wallcoverings, woven panels, sheer drapery, mahogany wood, and marble surfaces further heighten a sense of luxury across the space. Meanwhile, the new Sense Spa immerses guests in nature, positioned between the beach and hillside and home to four treatment rooms, two couple’s suites, a hydrotherapy area, an adults-only pool, fitness center, hair and nail salon, and tennis facility.
Rosewood Le Guanahani also comprises 66 freestanding residential-style accommodations crafted to evoke the character of the French Caribbean. Each of the 29 guestrooms, 27 suites, and 10 signature suites overlook the sea or gardens and ensure optimal privacy in a modern, clean environment. Flooded with natural light, interiors are lined with floor-to-ceiling French windows that contrast dark wood floors and custom furniture by Pons. Accommodations are also equipped with private outdoor spaces, including covered verandas, open sundecks, and dining alcoves.
