Photos: Green Room

Located inside Shoreditch’s the Curtain hotel, New York-based Gansevoort Hotel Group’s first European venture, the Green Room cocktail bar flows naturally from the hotel lobby. “The goal was to craft a classic hotel cocktail bar with an urban edge; to make it elegant but grounded,” says local designer Eleanor Horwell of her eponymous firm, who also handled the lobby design. The bar’s rough-meets-luxe aesthetic comes from concrete walls and steel casement windows that juxtapose floral murals painted in vivid shades of pink and gold, deep green quilted velvet banquettes, and a rich emerald-tiled bar with gold accents. “I love how the glamorous details are highlighted by the raw edges,” she adds.
